About This Event
The Gateway Junior PGA Championship is the official PGA Section qualifier for boys and girls competing in the Gateway region, played at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, IL on June 9-10, 2026. This is a two-day stroke play championship that determines who represents the Gateway Section on a national stage. Earning your section title here is a direct path to one of the most recognized junior championships in the country.
What Advancing Means
The section champion earns an automatic invitation to the Junior PGA Championship at Fields Ranch in Frisco, TX, July 28-31, 2026 — the 50th anniversary of a national championship whose past winners include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Lexi Thompson. Competing at that level puts a junior golfer in a field and a spotlight that very few players their age ever reach.
Coach's Take
If your junior meets the eligibility requirements, this event should be on the schedule — section PGA championships are one of the clearest signals college coaches and national selectors use to identify serious competitors.

Falling in early June, this championship lands at a prime point in the junior season when players have tournament rounds in their legs but the summer's biggest events are still ahead. College coaches actively track section PGA champions, and a win or strong finish here carries real weight in recruiting conversations through the fall.
