About This Event
The Edwin Watts 100th Texas Junior Amateur is the Texas Golf Association's flagship junior championship, celebrating a century of crowning the state's top junior golfers at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, TX from June 29–July 1, 2026. This co-ed event draws the most competitive junior players in Texas and carries real weight on the national junior golf calendar as a USGA Exemption Event. A strong finish here signals to college coaches and national selectors that a player can compete at the highest level under championship conditions.
What Advancing Means
The Boys 15–18 champion earns a full exemption directly into the US Junior Amateur, and the Girls 15–18 champion earns a full exemption into the US Girls Junior Amateur — two of the most coveted automatic bids available on the junior golf calendar. Beyond the USGA pathway, a Texas Junior Amateur title carries significant name recognition with college recruiters evaluating players in the Class of 2027 and beyond.
Coach's Take
If your junior is a Texas resident with a sub-6.4 index and has college golf or a USGA championship on their radar, this is a must-play — the 100th anniversary adds historic significance, and the direct US Junior Amateur exemption makes it one of the highest-return events on the summer schedule.
